Kannawidan Festival

          The Ylocos Region is very rich in extraordinary historical treasures, including the literary works, traditions, ethnic music, food, delicacies, handmade products and the culture of both modern and ancestor Ilocanos. The Literary work Biag ni Lam-ang by Pedro Bukaneg was very popular all over the Philippines and it was an Ilocano work.

          On the last week of January to first week of February, the province of Ilocos Sur celebrates the Kannawidan Festival that aims to showcase the different products of every town in Ilocos Sur and also shows the old beliefs and traditions of Ilocanos. During the Kannawidan Festival, lots of activities were made in the Quirino Stadium. This includes different competitions about the culture of Ilocos Sur such as quiz bee, writing daniw, tribal dance, painting and many more.

          The occasion is very important to every Ilocano because it reminds us the work of our ancestors and as respect to them and to our selves, because we are Ilocanos too.

New Year, New Me: Change is Good

               

                      New Year, New me. It’s 2014 and a new time for our life had come. “Change is good!” a wonderful quote by one of the legendary Champions in the League of Legends. Everything’s changes as we all know. But we didn't know that it will take many things to do the process of changing. Not just in one click, one blink or one millisecond. It needs also the reconstruction of our physical body, rehabilitation of mind and submission of spirit to God. But the most important is that of submission of our self to God and rehabilitation of mind even if you're still ugly just like the past time. You had changed.

         The past years, I had a lot of bad, wrong doings that is not God-liked and against the human rights. Not God-liked in the sense that I didn't go to the church and pray for straight 7 months since the Lenten Season. And my parents had told me that. Then I talked to my self and realized that I've done the worst thing in my life that God has given me. It is one of his commandments and I've break it. Just like a worst criminal that break the Law of the Government. Last years also, I I've done against the rights of my fellow men. I have taught bad things about a person even without knowing her or him very much.

         So this New Year, I have planned and starting to project my new self. I’m not already the one last year, and I’m the One this year! I will be the model of my fellow men and that should be. I will not make again a bad history of my life. Because I had realized that this life is wonderful gift from someone above me.

Bad Chain of Events: 3rd Grading Period Reflection

Once again, it’s time to evaluate myself in the past grading period and make a vision and mission for the fourth and final grading period. In the last period, I can’t say that I have done my best because I did not concentrate on my studies. Instead of at home before sunset, I was there in the computer shop once every two days. Once in a very late night, I together with my school mate Joshua and my brother Andrew just have gone in the computer shop. When we are walking back home a car stop on us and blown its horn. We are very angry on that driver of that car because we three were shocked by the sudden loud noise.

We continued to walk and all of a sudden, the car opened and we were very shocked. There is Ma’am Vera Cruz, our ICT teacher talking to us. She was the driver of the car! My mind change and remembered the saying: “Don’t be easy to get angry because it can’t help you.” We responded to her questions and after that, we went home. In all the events of my life this third grading period I was very happy in the way that this happenings no matter how worse or good it is, I am very happy.

After all of the bad events, I must do good events also continuing my high school life until the end. I will change my habits and construct my new self.

TIME FOR POSITIVE: It’s Christmas and let’s forgive

          The Time is very fast that it’s time again for happiness. This coming holiday of December we are all going to be busy. Busy in preparing every house for the coming Yuletide Season and buying gifts to share to other people. And that is the true essence of Christmas.

        In streets, children carol house to house to save money for buying gifts and self wants for the Christmas day. They joyfully sing with grace in their heart with the cold breeze of the wind and dancing leaves of the mahogany tree. You can see people forgive their enemies and forgot all their hatreds in their hearts. There are also noises that make all bad luck disappear and never to return again. Firecrackers here, there, and everywhere.

        You can also watch Firework displays, shopping discounted items and seeing every people you encounter with smile in their faces. It is very true that Christmas is the time for Happiness, Time to forgive and Time to share.

GLOBAL WARMING: GLOBAL WARNING

          I remember what my grandmother said who had passed away that the air before in their time was very fresh and the temperature was not yet as high as now that they even use jackets and drinking hot coffee in morning, noon, and evening. But now the climate is changing, the air surrounding the earth can be now called dirty and hell atmosphere due to what people had done and continuously doing.

          Global warming is the general increase in average temperatures around the world. This increase has been between 0.3 degrees and 0.8 degrees over the last hundreds years. Most scientists now think that global warming is caused by human activities, which have resulted in an increase in the Earth’s natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the way that the certain gases in the air, trapping some of sun’s warmth, like the panes of glass in a greenhouse. The Greenhouse effect is very beneficial that it keeps the earth pleasantly warm but if it increases, the earth may become very hot.

          If we continue our wrong doings there will be worse happenings. The Global Warming is just only a Global WARNING! One of the many bad effects is the melting of polar ice caps in North and South Poles, flooding low lying countries like Bangladesh and worst, the particular part of the Philippines, the region of NCR.

Language for All

English is our universal language, as we all know. It was set to be the medium of communication all over the world because it is not only easier for us to understand but also it has lot of vocabularies for us to learn. Easy to understand in such way that almost all countries are learning this language. Including our country, the Philippines. It was taught to us youth since we are to enter the school. We also find new and wonderful words in English that may be use for good communication and relation.

So many school here in the Philippines implemented the English Month Celebration. To help students to understand and learn more about the English grammar and Literature. Also in order for us to bond and join together hand in hand with other countries for our dream, PRGRESS. The  key is communication with the English Language.

Equilibrium Toughts

Equal Rigths and Equal Opportunity. This must be with all the people in thw world. As a background according to the Communism by Karl Marx. All must have Equal Rights and Oppurtunity to the people that will result to economical progress of a country. But it was today rivaled by the Democracy and today it was not effective as said that All people have rights. But nowadays, cases Bullying in the country are increasing rapidly.

                I noticed that the Rights of people under this type of government is respected. The type of leader might be the cause maybe. On the otherhand, many people today were not given equal opportunity. Especially on the application of jobs. The bosses and managers  are not fair in giving opportunity to applicants. In order for us to achieve the progress of our country, We must first achieve the progress of every man power.
